About Katie

Katie Hamberger is a choreographer, storyteller, and dance educator from Northern Virginia. She began her career choreographing for the competition dance stage at age 13. Now, as an adult, Katie continues to create award winning pieces and shows in various different styles professionally. She trained in ballet, contemporary, jazz, lyrical, tap, and hip hop and she continues to learn with every piece she creates and class she teaches.

Her choreographic focus is on telling stories that resonate with, entertain, move, and inspire audiences. Her mission is to help dancers towards being their best through collaboration and excellent and challenging choreography. She centers her work around valuing the dancers she works with as who they are as individuals and encouraging them to bring their own artistic voices to the stage through her work.

Katie’s expertise lies in contemporary, ballet, and jazz choreography. She has created solos, duos, trios, groups, lines, and extended lines. She also has produced and choreographed a full-length ballet. Additionally, she guest teaches for master classes and intensives. She would love to create with your studio or company.

Her work has won various accolades, including, most recently, Choreographer of the Year and Outstanding Artistic Direction at the 2025 Virginia Dance Awards.
